HOMOSEXUAL AND THE BIBLE

(My desire in this study is simply to see what God has said about this subject.)

 (I have endeavored to keep my thoughts and observations out of this listing.)

(I may have added some verses that do not fit the subject or left some out that I should have listed but I am quite confident that the following is a complete list of all the direct references to homosexuality found in the NIV Bible.)

Gen 19:4,6,7 “...all the men... called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight? Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them." ...[he] said, "No, my friends. Don't do this wicked thing”.

Lev 18:22 "`Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable”.

Lev 20:13 "`If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads”.

Judg 19:22-23 “While they were enjoying themselves, some of the wicked men of the city surrounded the house. Pounding on the door, they shouted to the old man who owned the house, ‘Bring out the man who came to your house so we can have sex with him.’ The owner of the house went outside and said to them, ‘No, my friends, don't be so vile. Since this man is my guest, don't do this disgraceful thing”’.

1 Tim 1:9-10 “We also know that law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious; for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for adulterers and perverts...”

Rom 1:26-27 “Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion”.

1 Cor 6:9-11 “Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Jude 7 “In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire”.

Deut 22:5 “A woman must not wear men's clothing, nor a man wear women's clothing, for the LORD your God detests anyone who does this”.

Cor 11:14-15 “Does not the very nature of things teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace to him, but that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For long hair is given to her as a covering”.
