Bible Study
Home Page
From this page we can proceed through the steps that will
lead the Bible student to an accurate understanding of God's message. Some
people feel that God's message is different for everyone. Somehow, quite
mysteriously, as we read the Bible a different message comes to us. This is
not true. God gave all of us the same message but of course the application
of that message is a little different for each of us. For example: A lesson
on Christian joy might bless my life at the loss of a loved one while the
same lesson might bless your life at the point of financial losses. It is
the same message, however.
Some people think that the Bible mysteriously
has a different message for each person that reads it. I like what Judge
Samuel Alito said on 1/11/06, he said, "The Constitution means something,
not what I want it to mean or what someone else wants it to mean. The
constitution has a meaning of its own. This same statement can be applied to
the Bible. The has its own meaning and the same message to everyone. Yes,
the same passage can be applied to different problems but it is still the
same message. Vaseline can be applied to chapped hands and a squeaking hinge
but it is the Vaseline is the same.
Some people feel that a person must become an ordained
minister in order to understand the Bible. This is not true. Sometimes
"higher learning" actually makes it more difficult to understand God's
message. The major needs in understanding is an honest receptive heart and a
willingness to work hard to understand.
God did not give us this marvelous book and leave us to our
own devices with regard to the method of study. Within the pages of the
Bible God has given us the step by step procedure that will guarantee our
proper understanding. All worthwhile projects take effort. The effort we
apply to Bible study will produce rewards that will bless our lives both now
and in heaven.
"Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does
not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth,"
2 Tim 2:15-16 NIV.
