COMMON QUESTIONS

·        Which came first the Chicken or the egg?

  •         Genesis 1:21 “So God created..., every winged bird according to its kind”. The text says birds not eggs. Eggs would require a mother but a mother would not require an egg. Eggs must be turned over twice a day or they would not hatch. God created birds before eggs.

·        Was sex the forbidden fruit ? No, for before they ate of it they were commanded to, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth...” Genesis 1:28.

·        Was prostitution the first profession? No. God put Adam in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it (Genesis 2:15). “The man gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts of the field.” (Genesis 2:20) Who would Eve have prostituted herself with?

·        Where did Cain get his wife? He married his sister or niece. Due to the near perfect health before the flood, incest was not forbidden until after Moses (Genesis. 20:12). Abraham was married to his half sister.

·        Could God have created other people beside Adam and Eve? No. “And Adam called his wife's name Eve; because she was the mother of all living.” Genesis 3:20 “In six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth the sea and all that is in them.” Exodus 20:11

·        Does the word “replenish” mean that there were people before Adam?  Genesis 1:28 “And God blessed them, and God said unto them, ‘Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth....”’ KJV “Replenish” Webster - make full again. Thayer's Greek Lexicon - to fill, to be full. NIV - "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth. God “plenished” the world with full grown flowers, grass, trees, birds, fish and animals. Now he says to man, “You ‘plenish’ it one more time. You fill it with people.”

·        Where do Cave Men fit into the Bible picture? Some people in every century live in caves.

·        The Heidelberg man was built from the jaw bone that was conceded by many to be quite human.

·        The Nutcracker man was reported to be 134 million years old but material in the same strata was shown to be less than 7,000 years old.

·        The Nebraska man was scientifically built up from one tooth which later was found to be the tooth of an extinct pig.

·        The Piltdown man was built from a jawbone which was proven to be from a modern ape.

·        The Peking man was reported to be 500,000 years old. All evidence has disappeared.

·        Neanderthal man: At the International Congress of Zoology (1958) Dr. A. J. E. Cave said that his examination of this

famous skeleton, found in France, showed that it is that of an old man who suffered from arthritis.

·        The Pithecanthropus man’s skull turned out to be the knee cap of an elephant.

·        The New Guinea man dates way back to the year 2002 and presently lives in northern Australia.

·        The Cro-Magnon man is one of the best established fossils. It is at least equal in physique and brain capacity to modern man ----so what’s the difference?[1]

·        Modern man, this genius thinks we came from a monkey. Some people talk about the missing link. Brother, the whole chain is gone!

·        Is there life on other planets? If there is life on other planets it was created at the same time we were (Exodus 20:11,12). The life on other planets could not be human (Genesis 3:20). If life exists on other planets it will stop when life on this earth ends (2 Peter 3:10-12). With regard to more specific details of life on other planets see Deuteronomy 29:29.

  • Where does the ice age fit into the Bible story? It doesn’t! The flood did the devastation that is commonly attributed to the ice age.

WHY DOES GOD ALLOW GOOD PEOPLE TO SUFFER? Great question! It reminds me of a story I once heard about two men walking through a woods, a big fellow and a little fellow. The little guy looked up at the big guy and said, “If I were big and strong like you I’d find the biggest bear in the woods and beat him up.” The big guy looked down on the little guy and said, “There are a lot of little bears in the woods.” I hope the pun is obvious. It is quite easy for us to look up at the big God and tell him how he ought to make sacrifices so no one suffers but it’s a little harder to look at ourselves and say what sacrifices we are willing to make so we will cause no one to suffer. Are you willing to give up your car to make sure that no one ever suffers as a result of it? Many women will not give up adultery to insure that no innocent child will suffer from being aborted. Many people will not give up smoking to insure that they and their families don’t suffer because of it. God does all things right.

WHY DO GOOD PEOPLE SUFFER?

Satan: Job 1:12, The LORD said to Satan, "Very well, then, everything he has is in your hands, but on the man himself do not lay a finger."

Our Sin: Gen 3:14, So the LORD God said…, "Because you have done this,

Gen 3:16, To the woman he said, "I will greatly increase your pains in childbearing; with pain you will give birth to children.

Gen 3:17, To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat of it,' Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.

Other People’s Sin: Gen 4:8, Now Cain said to his brother Abel, "Let's go out to the field." And while they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.

Stupidity: 1 Kings 18:26, 28 Then they called on the name of Baal from morning till noon. "O Baal, answer us!" they shouted. But there was no response; no one answered. And they danced around the altar they had made… So they shouted louder and slashed themselves with swords and spears, as was their custom, until their blood flowed.

Punishment: Heb 12:6 "The Lord… punishes everyone he accepts as a son."

Discipline: Heb 12:6 "The Lord disciplines those he loves..."

To teach lessons, John 9:1-3: "His disciples asked him, 'Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?' 'Neither this man nor his parents sinned,' said Jesus, 'but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life.'"

Ex 4:11-12, The LORD said to him, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the LORD?
